Principal

John Christiansen is a seasoned leader who has helped executives, boards, and organizations communicate like humans – with clarity, credibility, and purpose. He has nearly 30 years of experience in executive and financial communications, investor and media relations, crisis response, corporate reputation, and strategic storytelling.

Most recently, he supported the Chairman and CEO of ExxonMobil, where he led executive communications and served as a key partner to the Investor Relations team. In that role, he wrote speeches, earnings materials, and led the team that improved the company’s major publications, including its Global Outlook and Advancing Climate Solutions Report. He also led investor comms for spotlights, Corporate Plan updates, annual meetings, and proxy materials. This included the company’s launch of its first-of-its-kind voting program for retail shareholders.

Before that, he spent nearly 15 years at Anadarko, ultimately serving as Vice President of Corporate Communications. He led an award-winning 25‑person team that covered all aspects from crisis comms to investor and ESG engagement, media relations, stakeholder outreach, and executive visibility.

He began his career in broadcasting, serving as a news director, anchor, and reporter for radio stations across Oklahoma and Wyoming. Those early days in the newsroom shaped his belief in the value of clear, human communication and sharpened his ability to translate complex issues into common language people understand.

He twice served as Chair of API’s Communications Committee and as a member of the Board of Directors for the Montgomery County Food Bank. John also attended the Strategic Leaders Program at the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business. He holds a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Wyoming, where he also studied comparative politics.

At the core of his leadership philosophy is the credo: “grow persistently.” It reflects how he approaches his work, how he values client relationships, how he develops teams, and how he shows up for the people he supports.
